1. About This Policy
This Cookie Policy explains how Carewell GmbH ("the Company," "we," "us," or "our") uses cookies and similar technologies on gocarewell.com (the "Site") and the Carewell nurse-shift staffing platform. It supplements our Privacy Policy and should be read alongside it. Our approach to cookies reflects both the Swiss Federal Act on Data Protection (revised FADP) and the consent standard required under applicable ePrivacy principles: non-essential cookies are not set until you give your prior consent.
2. What Are Cookies
Cookies are small text files placed on your device when you visit a website. They allow the site to recognise your device across page loads, store your preferences, keep your session active after login, and, where you consent, measure how you use the site so we can improve it. We also use related technologies including browser local storage (for consent-choice persistence) and server-side access logs (for security monitoring, not analytics).
3. Your Consent: Prior Consent Required
When you first visit the Site, a cookie consent banner appears. We do not set any non-essential cookies (analytics, preferences, or marketing) until you actively accept through that banner. Strictly necessary cookies are set immediately because the Site cannot function without them.
Accepting and rejecting are equally easy: the banner presents both options at the same prominence. You can change your choice at any time by selecting "Cookie preferences" in the Site footer, which reopens the consent interface and clears your previous choice. You may also clear your browser's cookies directly to reset all choices.
Your consent choice is stored in your browser's local storage (key: cookie-consent) for up to 12 months. After 12 months we will ask again.

5. Third-Party Cookies
Our analytics are self-hosted within Switzerland, so no analytics data is sent to third-party servers. The fonts loaded from Google Fonts APIs may result in a request to Google's servers, which may set a short-lived cookie or log your IP. We are working towards a fully self-hosted font solution. Where we later add third-party analytics or other providers who set cookies as our data processors, we will update this policy and will only enable those cookies after you give your prior consent. We have data-processing agreements with any third parties acting as processors.
6. Managing Cookies
- Use the cookie consent banner or the "Cookie preferences" footer link to accept or reject non-essential cookies at any time.
- Most browsers allow you to block or delete cookies in their settings; detailed instructions are available at aboutcookies.org. Note that blocking strictly necessary cookies will prevent the platform from functioning correctly.
- Browser-transmitted opt-out signals, including the Global Privacy Control (GPC), are honoured: if your browser sends a GPC signal, we treat it as a rejection of analytics and marketing cookies for that session and do not set those cookies, regardless of any previously stored consent choice.
7. Changes to This Policy
If we add new cookies or change the categories we use, we will update this policy with a new "Last updated" date and, where the change involves cookies that require consent, we will re-display the consent banner to give you the opportunity to review and confirm your choice.
